Recently, every morning when I wake up, I find my air-conditioner automatically turned off. I didnt understand why at first, but soon I learned that there is a great shortage of electricity supply in our citymy air-conditioner turned off because of a power failure midnight.

With the rapidly developing industry and the ever increasing population, demand for electricity supply is soaring. Besides, summers in recent years are much hotter than before, so most working places and households are air-conditioned, which consumes additional electricity.

Faced with such a hard nut, we have to find ways to crack it. Above all, in western areas of China, there is surplus of electricity supply. So, cities that are thirsty for electricity may ask for remote help. Then, when we have electricity, we should remember to save it. Set your air-conditioners at 270C and you wont feel less comfortable than when they are at 260C. In fact, some factories already shift their working hours to avoid the peak time of electricity-consuming. My parents dont work from Monday through Friday as beforethey work from Sunday through Thursday and have/take the following two days off instead. This is also a way out, isnt it?

在上周二，就听说学校要举办英语节。作为初一的新生，我们更要展现出自己的风采。所以在周三的上午，王老师紧急召开“会议”，决定让我、张盛涵、卞乙博、李永博、范文韬、师云帆、杜明骏、冯筱雅、张笑语一起演一出不算短的英语话剧。

“英语话剧”？这还不简单，我在小学的时候可还演过英语音乐剧——《音乐之声》呢！虽然这出话剧不算短，但总不可能比《音乐之声》还难吧？放心吧，不出三天，我保证能把台词背下来！

但当我一拿到稿子，立刻就傻了眼，我的台词虽然只有13句话，只是难度与小学相比大大增加，越到后面生僻词就越多，尤其是“attic”、“handsome”等我从未见过的词。

别看这话剧比《音乐之声》要短，但浓缩的都是“精华”呀！双手拿着稿子，心中压力山大。

周四排练时，一是我可能面对这么多人，有些紧张；二是刚接触新剧本，哪个人应该说哪句话还不知道衔接，经常上句不接下句，自己都觉得“尴尬”的`慌。

好在我以前接触过音标，也尝试过自然拼读法，更庆幸的是我的姐姐在外国留学了六年，有一口纯正的“伦敦腔”，她在排练前就给我发了一段我的台词录音。我听了一遍后，记住了几个难点词的发音，在排练中才没有遇到这样、那样的问题。

排练中，除动作、语音外，其他的都一切顺利。一开始的顺利就是我们前进的动力，我会珍惜这来之不易的机会，展现出属于自己的风采。

If there were better and more frequent public transportation, people would be able to give up their cars for local driving.

As a result of all the cars being driven, we’re dealing with terrible pollution problems. In big cities, there are days during the summer when the elderly and people with respiratory problems are advised not to leave the house. Ten years ago this was unheard of! Now its the norm. Public transportation would cut down considerably on air pollution.

Public transportation also encourages a sense of community. People who travel to work together all the time get to know each other. Car isolate us from neighbors. However, people feel they need to drive because they cant depend on public transportation to fit their schedules. If more money were available, buses, subways and trains could run 24 hours a day. Then they would be available all the time to the people who need them.

I always try to take public transportation whenever possible, and I encourage friends and neighbors to try it too. I think we must support public transportation in order to create a better world.
